Farewell, AMIDuOS

Farewell, AMIDuOS

A wise person once said that "all good things must come to an end," and such is the case for AMIDuOS®, our Android™ Environment for Microsoft™ Windows™ platforms.

As such, online sales of AMIDuOS will come to an end, effective immediately. Additionally, new email ticket support will gradually be suspended over the next several months. However, our Knowledgebase of archived technical support articles and user comments will still be available on our website indefinitely. No further product updates or bug fixes will be forthcoming for this product.

A Brief History of AMIDuOS, Where We Are Now

AMIDuOS was launched in May of 2014 and enjoyed robust interest both from the press and a lively group of enthusiasts and users.

However, Android has become more complex with each evolution, while newer apps have come into the Android marketplace along with updates and patches for Windows. All these factors have come together to present challenges in supporting this product across a wide range of platforms and different versions of Windows OS (7, 8, and 10), something that has always been at the core of AMIDuOS.

Because we could not provide the same, consistent and excellent user experience that our users have come to expect with this product, we made the difficult decision to end sales of this product.

We greatly enjoyed launching the product and receiving the support of the enthusiastic user community. We were able to develop one of, if not the best, Android emulator on the market. We would never have enjoyed the success we did with this product were it not for the support of our users.

In closing, we would once again like to thank the entire community of AMIDuOS users for helping make this software what it is; it has been a rewarding journey for the AMIDuOS team at American Megatrends.

A brief follow up on this post:

Over the past day, we have received many requests and questions on the process of re-installation and re-activation of previously purchased copies of AMIDuOS.

I have 2 copies in use of this software and was actually waiting for some improvements. Too bad this won't happen, but I wonder what happens when i upgrade my machine and change to a different machine, I have to transfer the license and there is no mention about your existing customers and how could they download their software if they don't have the installer or when your license transfer will stop working. Just no mentioning at all, besides this announcement. It is pretty lame for a big company to stop a product all of a sudden, without informing the people of its retirement ahead of time. One would expect a support period and a gradual retirement. Looks like Ami is not that kind of professional company. Honestly if i'd known i would not have bought the second copy from you. Very disappointed, not with you business decisions, that's your to decide and i can't influence this, but how badly you guys handle/implement this. You are basically telling people straight to their face your business was not worth it and we do not care about you guys. I can tell you if you ever offer another purchase from you online, I am sure I and others who have bought this from you will keep this in mind., probably whenever the Name AMI comes to mind.

    請問,我是以購買的Pro版的用戶,這樣我們以後要如何在安裝使用DuOS-M,還有DuOS64_2.0.8.8511以前的版本也都無法安裝是否有解決的方法

Can we still use already activated AMIDuOS forever, and... can we still transfer licenses for it after sales become end? Getting an end of AMIDuOS is an bad news for me, but you guys did well Lollipop when some Android emulators just got Kitkat, others were JellyBean. You were fastest among them. I won't forget about AMIDuOS. Goodbye.

I just purchased this product a week or two ago, and now I can't get it to boot Android (it just shows a totally black screen without even the initial Android splash logo coming up). 1. Should I assume that now that it's been discontinued I will never get it to run again? 2. How do I get my money back?
  • Eric 03/10/2018

I think my black-screen problem is related to the graphics driver issues mentioned elsewhere. I successfully ran it using the NVidia GPU on my computer.

What happens to the existing trial version of AMIDuOS? What happens after the trial? This is sad...I was just starting to like the product...;(
  • Pat Jackson 03/11/2018

At the moment we need support to move an instance of AMIDuOS from one machine to another. How will this be handled once support is removed?
  • ean 03/11/2018

    at least yours worked. thanks.
  • Rodney J 03/11/2018

Thank you guys for your great product and services you provided from start to finish! It is unfortunate it had to end today. Thanks and hopefully maybe in the future you come out with something greater.

i install amiduos (version 2.0.8.8511) over a month ago and now appears an error(didn't open amiduos in the last 2 weeks) message :unknown exception occur (-1) contact amiduos for support and after pressing ok app is closing.i notice if my internet connection is disable or wifi from amiduos settings is disable that msg don't appear.if i enable internet connection but wifi disable in amiduos still fine after wifi enable that error msg popup.searching in support about that specific error msg also others got it.for my surprise amiduos dev is discontinued.after that little debuging i think amiduos checks something with a server(maybe) when is launched makeing to stop if it's untouchable so you can leave something on on your side so the rest of us who still use amiduos to be usuable.didn't try uninstal then install yet.
  • Julian Finn 03/12/2018

Showed up here to download the client to a new machine and you guys have completely removed it. Since I paid for this software, I'd like either a link to a download or a refund.

I purchased your product, how can I download it for future use without your servers? Please provide a path to allow your users the ability to use the tool after you have gone. Thank you and all the best.
  • Mark 03/12/2018

Disappointing and sorry to hear this. This emulator was very good. I hope it's technology will go on to new owners who have the resources to build for more Android versions and keep the legend alive.
  • Chris 03/12/2018

Valeu a pena adquirir o AmiDuOS!!! Sentiremos saudades, pois esperávamos updates, atualizações OS Android. Poderemos ter a esperança de um novo software?
  • Shawn 03/18/2018

Eric, Selecting the Nvidia GPU did the trick for us! Many Thanks! We were testing a new medical app and right after a windows 10 update DuOS showed only a black screen. For anyone doing a fresh download and reinstall, here is the link to get the "play store" installed (while the link is still active): http://amiduos.com/nextsteps AMI DuOS is a great product and it's a shame that it's at end of life.
  • Donald Carroll 03/19/2018

I purchased AmiDUOS Pro version on March 2, just before you shut down...am I entitled to a refund? Product key is: xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx...I have email receipt.
  • Terry 03/20/2018

Donald, I've sent you an email.
  • Michael 03/21/2018

I am unable to locate my activation code ? so how can I recover it ?
  • Rufoo 03/23/2018

Could you please provide the Port Forward tools for download or send a copy to my email address for x64? If you check against my email address you'll see I purchased DuOS when it was available.

I tried it. The idea was very good but the implementation was absolutely horrifying.
