NORCROSS, GEORGIA - AMI®, a global leader in powering, managing and securing the world's connected digital infrastructure through its BIOS, BMC and security solutions, is pleased to announce its participation in the Open Distributed Infrastructure Management (ODIM) initiative, alongside with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Intel and other industry leading companies.
ODIM represents a new open source initiative to simplify the management of large-scale, geographically distributed physical infrastructure and reduce the complexity that telco providers confront when deploying 5G networks across a multitude of sites that are equipped with IT infrastructure from multiple vendors and different generations of technology. AMI's contribution to the security and manageability aspect of ODIM is represented by AMI Composer™, its robust hyperscale node, rack and POD management ecosystem for both traditional and telco cloud infrastructure.
To deliver on their promises of ultra-low latency and high connectivity, 5G networks will require large numbers of edge datacenters located close to the markets they serve. Agile, composable infrastructures are crucial to the efficient operation of these edge datacenters to meet changing customer demands from evolving 5G and IoT use cases. AMI Composer helps solve the security challenges related to the deployment and management of 5G infrastructure, by ensuring its integrity and providing options for remediation in the case of a security breach.
AMI Composer also meets the unique manageability requirements for 5G telco cloud, where the ability to use heterogeneous, shared hardware and other resources, the capability to rapidly expand and remain elastic, provide on-demand network access from anywhere and be available as networks, servers, storage, app and 5G telemetry services are all of the utmost priority.
Led by HPE in collaboration with Intel and with support from key industry leaders such as AMI, Apstra, Red Hat, Tech Mahindra and World Wide Technology, ODIM includes key components planned for open source release to create a complete ecosystem that will accelerate technology innovation beyond the telco industry - including a planned open source project under the Linux Foundation® to further develop the initiative and enable end-to-end automated management of networks.
"AMI is fully aligned with the goals of the Open Distributed Infrastructure Management initiative to simplify telco infrastructure management and drive meaningful operational and financial value," said Joseprabu Inbaraj, Senior Director of System Software and Security Services at AMI.
"Supporting large scale, geographically distributed networks and facilitating interaction between disparate multivendor infrastructure resources - as ODIM is designed to do - is in perfect harmony with the value and benefits of AMI Composer. As such we are very excited to have the opportunity to contribute alongside HPE, Intel and other partner companies on this initiative," he added.
