NORCROSS, GEORGIA - AMI®, a global leader in powering, managing and securing the world's connected digital infrastructure through its BIOS, BMC and security solutions, is pleased to announce the new AMI FirST™ Firmware Security Testing Suite.
The AMI FirST Security Testing Suite is a powerful set of integrated security test tools that provide dependable verification of production firmware security for x86/x64 architectures. AMI FirST tests stay current with the latest critical developments in mitigating firmware security threats and CHIPSEC for comprehensive testing, vulnerability protection and prevention of security defect regression.
AMI FirST is designed with both reliability and ease-of-use in mind, making it an important addition to any OEM development team or quality assurance (QA) lab for confirming the proper mitigation of potential firmware security issues. Because testing with AMI FirST requires minimal intervention, an engineer is typically not required to manage the test process. Additionally, the deployment process for AMI FirST is simple and quick: using the UEFI shell, the AMI FirST suite of tools boots easily from USB or a similar mass storage device.
Log information and test results from AMI FirST are provided in a straightforward and concise format, with each test clearly delineated with pass, fail or not applicable status. Any failed test will automatically direct the user to the corresponding AMI Security Advisory for remediation of the issue and any additional required action. AMI customers also have the option to submit their platforms to AMI and have AMI engineers perform the tests for them.
"AMI FirST represents an exciting and logical next step for AMI into even more robust and user-friendly platform firmware security testing. It takes the burden of firmware security testing from the shoulders of our customers by providing a convenient, reliable and always-current service for them. This enables our OEM customers to focus on what they do best, which is designing the world's leading hardware platforms and bringing them to market," said Stefano Righi, Vice President of Global Software, Security Engineering and Services at AMI.
