NORCROSS, GEORGIA: AMI, a global leader in BIOS and UEFI firmware, server and remote management tools, data storage products and unique solutions based on the Linux® and Android™ operating systems is pleased to introduce the latest version of its MegaRAC® FP-X™ Fabric Management Firmware Solution.
MegaRAC FP-X Fabric Management Firmware is a powerful firmware / software stack that combines complete fabric management functionality with that of a baseboard management controller (BMC). This allows MegaRAC FP-X to provide robust management capabilities and a deep layer of insight to key elements of the data center fabric, including compute, network, storage and infrastructure components.
These capabilities enable simple remote management of BMC and drive firmware configuration and updates, oversight of fabric health and activity, error prediction, troubleshooting and much more. MegaRAC FP-X also improves fault tolerance and resilience of the data center infrastructure while reducing the need for redundant components, lowering expenses.
MegaRAC FP-X includes all of the key BMC management tasks as defined by IPMI 2.0, Serial over LAN (SOL) and complete out-of-band (OOB) connectivity. Its advanced component management framework supports PCIe switch-based management, NVMe, RAID, SAS and other industry-standard drivers through its Component Manager API. For remote access to fabric management tasks, MegaRAC FP-X features a secure embedded web server and UI, along with Secure-Shell (SSH)-based SOL as well as standard IPMI-based SOL.
MegaRAC FP-X is based on the proven, highly stable and widely-used MegaRAC® SP-X™ Service Processor remote management solution, sharing the same code base. Like SP-X, FP-X firmware provides a high level of modularity, with the ability to easily configure the complete stack by selecting available features in package form. OEM-level modifications are made using MegaRAC Development Studio (MDS), an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for server management with the power to customize, build and debug all at once. Additionally, MegaRAC FP-X support is available on all of the advanced System-On-Chip (SoC) devices from leading manufacturers.
Founder, CEO and President of AMI, Subramanian Shankar, commented that "We are extremely excited to introduce our MegaRAC FP-X Fabric Management Firmware, a groundbreaking solution that will enable all infrastructure components, including compute, network, storage and infrastructure assets, to operate as a resilient and fault-tolerant system at a lower total cost of operation (TCO). For AMI, MegaRAC FP-X represents the convergence of our many years of expertise and leadership in BMC, server and remote management firmware, and underscores our commitment to expanding our lineup of products that support the data center and cloud infrastructure environments."
