AMI to Showcase MegaRAC FPX2.0 and AMI Composer Out-of-Band Server SAN / NVMeoF Manageability Solution with ASRock Rack Inc. at Supercomputing 2019

Supercomputing 2019 (SC19) is the international conference for high performance computing, networking, storage and analysis. It is designed to share best practices in a wide range of areas including architectures and networks, clouds and distributed computing, storage, system software and more, along with state of the practice in large-scale deployment and integration.

At SC19, AMI will be a guest of its valued partner ASRock Rack Inc. in Booth #971, where the two companies will jointly demonstrate their latest innovations in Server SAN manageability via the NVMe over Ethernet Fabric (NVMeoF) protocol. There, MegaRAC® FPX2.0™ NVMEoF Management Firmware and the AMI Composer™ Hyperscale Management Ecosystem from AMI will run on the ASRock Rack Inc. 1U10E-ROME/2T server platform to demonstrate the power and potential of this firmware / hardware integration to deliver out-of-band NVMe storage manageability for the discovery of storage pools, attachment of NVMe storage volumes to remote compute nodes, collection of drive inventory and telemetry data, auto-provisioning, hot swap and failover support and much more.

MegaRAC FPX2.0 NVMe-oF Management Firmware is a robust firmware/software solution combining the complete functionality to support Server SAN, including Ethernet Fabric management and NVMe drive management, with that of a baseboard management controller (BMC). The firmware component of MegaRAC FPX2.0 resides on the preexisting onboard BMC and maintains complete MegaRAC® SP-X™-based server manageability along with extensions that enable completely secure, out-of-band (OOB) NVMe storage manageability, available right out of the box. It supports all storage server architectures, including current Intel® x86 and AMD platforms, as well as future Arm®-based storage servers.

AMI Composer is a robust hyperscale node, rack and POD management ecosystem for both traditional and telco cloud infrastructure which provides a "single pane of glass" view of enterprise and datacenter environments along with a high degree of serviceability through its intelligent, powerful feature set. It is built around a central framework that delivers core manageability features with simplified physical configurations of compute, network and storage-level resources. Various extensions to the AMI Composer framework add individual manageability capabilities including server, POD and telco cloud system management, thanks to its compliance with key management specifications like DMTF Redfish® and Intel® Rack Scale Design.

AMI Joins PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG) as an Executive Member

PICMG is a nonprofit consortium of over 140 companies and organizations that collaboratively develop open standards for high-performance telecommunications, military, industrial, and general-purpose embedded computing applications. Equipment built to PICMG standards is used worldwide and its standards are generally available for use without restriction. Key standards families developed by PICMG include CompactPCI®, AdvancedTCA®, MicroTCA®, AdvancedMC®, CompactPCI® Serial, COM Express®, SHB Express®, and HPM (Hardware Platform Management).

COM Express is a key specification defined within PICMG, which defines Small Form Factor (SFF) and Computer on Module (COM) single board computers with a wide range of commercial applications. PICMG is working on upcoming versions of the specification with higher levels of manageability, including the addition of a Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) as a part of the design. Aptio V UEFI Firmware from AMI is Compliant with UEFI Specification v2.8 and UEFI Platform Initialization Specification v1.7

NORCROSS, GEORGIA - AMI, a global leader in BIOS, BMC and remote management tools and utilities, is pleased to announce that its flagship Aptio® V UEFI Firmware is now compliant with version 2.8 of the UEFI Specification as well as version 1.7 of the UEFI Platform Initialization (PI) Specification.

Implementation of version 2.8 of the UEFI Specification brings a host of improvements and new features to Aptio V UEFI firmware, including the UEFI RestEx protocol, the Redfish® Discover protocol, and Configuration Capsule support.

Improvements brought with version 1.7 of the UEFI Platform Initialization Specification include automatic migration of Pre-EFI Initialization (PEI) modules from temporary to permanent memory, support for PEI Core residing in a Firmware Volume (FV) other than the Boot FV and a new service to support timed callbacks in PEI.

Aptio V UEFI Firmware from AMI Selected as Reference BIOS for Second Generation AMD EPYC Server Processors

NORCROSS, GEORGIA: AMI, a global leader in BIOS, BMC and remote management tools and utilities, is pleased to announce BIOS support for the second generation of the AMD EPYC™ server processor, as its Aptio® V UEFI firmware was selected as the shipping reference BIOS for the recently released AMD EPYC™ 7002 Series.

This announcement continues the tradition of AMI providing reference BIOS support for the AMD EPYC™ platform, as AMI was previously selected as the shipping reference BIOS provider for the original AMD EPYC™ 7000 Series server processors and platforms.
