NORCROSS, GEORGIA: - American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), a global leader in BIOS and UEFI firmware, BMC and remote management tools, data storage products and unique solutions based on the Linux® and Android™ operating systems, is pleased to announce its full support for the Redfish™ 1.0 specification from the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF), in both its Aptio® V UEFI BIOS Firmware as well as several products within the MegaRAC® Manageability Framework - the most widely used solution in the market today.

Redfish™ is an open industry standard specification and schema designed to meet the expectations of end users for simple and secure management of modern scalable platform hardware. It is grounded in modern technologies including a RESTful interface and utilizes JSON and OData to help customers integrate solutions within their existing tool chains.

The ultimate goal of Redfish is to address all of the components in the data center with a consistent API, and an aggressive development schedule from the DMTF partner community is successfully making strides to that end.

The latest Redfish 1.0 specification in Aptio® V UEFI BIOS Firmware allows data center administrators to extend their management solutions through the adoption of BIOS, BMC and Extensible Management Architecture (EMA). The support for Redfish 1.0 has added new features that are supported by UEFI firmware, where server managers can update and configure various BIOS settings and updates for multiple servers. Many additional features of the Redfish 1.0 specification take advantage of remote, out-of-band configurations through Redfish, including firmware updates, BIOS setting changes, OS deployment, UEFI Secure Boot, TPM management and system device inventory.

In addition to its industry-leading Aptio® V UEFI BIOS Firmware, known and trusted by Tier One OEMs and ODMs around the globe, products from AMI featuring support for Redfish 1.0 include the fully-integrated MegaRAC Pooled System Management Engine (PSME) firmware solutions, which enable efficient resource management for Network, Storage and Compute hardware throughout the data center, as well as MegaRAC Composer™ Pod Management Software. For more Information about MegaRAC solutions featuring Redfish support, please see https://ami.com/en/products/remote-management/rack-scale-design-solutions/.

Subramonian Shankar, President, CEO & Founder of American Megatrends, commented that "As a leader in server management technologies for decades, AMI is always incorporating support for the latest industry standards into its products, such as the Redfish standards from DMTF. In fact, AMI goes beyond the requirements of the 1.0 specification and continues to develop new features to add value and give options to customers by added OEM-specific commands that are not specified by Redfish. Chief among these is BIOS Firmware Update, which currently is only available from AMI."

"We feel strongly that American Megatrends has positioned itself as a key supporter of these standards – and that OEMs and ODMs using the Aptio V and the MegaRAC Manageability Framework to implement Redfish technology into their products are sure to benefit from lower development costs and faster time to market. Moreover, data center end users can be confident of these new, standards-compliant products from a trusted industry leader," he added.

September 25, 2017: American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), a global leader in BIOS and UEFI firmware, server and remote management tools, data storage products and unique solutions based on the Linux® and Android™ operating systems, is pleased to announce support for Intel®'s Innovation Engine (IE) on Intel Atom® C3000 Processors using Aptio® V UEFI Firmware.

American Megatrends, Inc. (AMI) has added support for the Innovation Engine from Intel® so AMI customers can take advantage of IE's numerous offerings and benefits. IE was developed as a cost-effective alternative to having a separate Baseboard Management Chip (BMC) soldered onto the board, which takes up space on the board and consumes power. The primary benefit of incorporating IE is so that OEMs have better manageability of their systems without incurring additional costs and power usage.

The IE code is cryptographically bound to the system developer; therefore OEMs can build their own hardware root of trust verification (HRTV) to validate digital signatures before system execution. If the digital signatures are not validated by the system builder, the system will not boot. Other features include using IE for Serial Over LAN (SOL) and logging BIOS status codes to IE. With the newly added support for IE, AMI enables customers to build customized systems that allow them to have more control over the architecture of their firmware.

NORCROSS, GEORGIA: - American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), a global leader in BIOS and UEFI firmware, server and remote management tools, data storage products and unique solutions based on the Linux® and Android™ operating systems, is pleased to announce the support for a generic method to update NVMe® devices firmware making use of the Firmware Management Protocol outlined in the UEFI specification.

In the NVMe specification, a generic command is defined to update the firmware of an NVMe device. American Megatrends, Inc. (AMI) has developed a standard method for publishing an EFI System Resource Table (ESRT) entry for any NVMe device discovered in the system. When users want to make firmware updates, the updates can be programmed onto the NVMe devices on the next reboot. Alternatively, AMI has enabled a way for users to update the NVMe device firmware from Aptio V UEFI BIOS setup. Utilizing this firmware update method will allow NVMe manufacturers and OEMs to easily apply firmware updates to their respective devices.
