NORCROSS, GEORGIA / SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA, USA - AMI, a global leader in BIOS and UEFI firmware, server and remote management tools, data storage products and unique solutions based on the Linux® and Android™ operating systems, is pleased to announce that its class-leading MegaRAC® Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) Firmware now features support for enhanced manageability of enterprise-class Nytro® 5910 NVMe drives from Seagate Technology.
The remote management innovations in MegaRAC BMC Firmware from AMI make enterprise-class Nytro 5910 NVMe drives from Seagate Technology even more easy to manage, through the BMC firmware’s ability to gather and report essential drive information in support of the NVMe interface.
MegaRAC BMC firmware technology enables users to conduct discovery, health and temperature monitoring of all NVMe devices, asset management and serial number tracking, along with estimated lifetime to replacement for currently used drives. Additionally, health and performance data can be stored by the BMC firmware for retrieval by upper-layer software at a later point in time for further analysis.
"We are pleased that AMI has chosen to develop integrated MegaRAC BMC solutions that support the Seagate Nytro NVMe SSDs," said Tony Afshary, director of SSD product management at Seagate Technology. "AMI’s added support in its BMC firmware helps make our Seagate Nytro 5910 NVMe SSDs even more manageable and powerful, helping us execute our mission to develop the next generation of efficient and powerful drive solutions for the hyperscale data center of the future," he added.
"Technology and innovation from industry leaders like Seagate Technology are key components of the high-performance storage solutions which are contributing to lowered costs and high rates of adoption throughout the industry," said Subramonian Shankar, President, Founder and CEO of AMI. "AMI is proud to provide these market-ready BMC packages in support of Seagate Nytro NVMe products, and we anticipate great interest in these compelling solutions that will help drive our industry forward."
